Background:
In association with the University of Cagliari, Italy and the Associazione
Elettrotecnica ed Elettronica Italiana, the Control Division of the Institution
of Electrical Engineers is organising the fourth in a successful series
of International Workshops on "Discrete Event Systems" (WODES
'98).

The second annual meeting of the European Union TMR project
ALAPEDES
(ALgebraic Approach to the Performance Evaluation of
Discrete Event Systems), network contract ERBFMRXTC970074, will be
held in the Chia Laguna hotel, Cagliari, Italy, on August 29-30,
following WODES98.

Bursaries:
Two bursaries are offered for attendance at the Workshop to assist IEE
members to update/broaden their professional and educational experience.
These are intended for IEE members of any class, working in small companies
or the academic field who cannot readily find an alternative source towards
